A citizen scientist is a member of the general public or an amateur scientist. While issues with data validity and collection standardization can arise, much of the natural world would go unobserved without citizen scientists. Join us to learn about citizen science and how you can use it in your classroom to provide authenticity in projects, plus learn some tips for keeping your collections valid!

In this course, we'll be taking a look at the built-in PhET simulations within Lumio, and how you can use them to create engaging science lessons. In this course we'll look at another classroom use of Labdiscs. You will need either an enviro, general science, or biochem Labdisc to perform this activity. We will be predicting the pH of various household beverages and then measure the pH with more accuracy using the Labdisc. We will then analyze and manipulate the data of the acidity of different beverages within the Labdisc software.
