Engineering an Obstacle Course

Students will plan and create an obstacle course using household and outdoor materials. They will test their designs and share their findings in a discussion inside of Google Classroom and respond to other students.

Binary Bead Bracelet Teq-tivity

In this activity, students will learn about Binary code and converting letters to binary. Students will use the knowledge to create a bracelet with 2 colored beads to represent their initials in Binary.

Self Portraits Van Gogh Style in Google Drawings

During this STEAM lesson, students will research and learn about Vincent Van-Gogh and his famous works of art.  They will also create self-portraits with a 21st century twist in Google Drawings.  Students will practice reseach skills, gain vocabulary and work on 21st century technology skills.  

Van Gogh Inspired Self Portraits

Over the course of several lessons students will learn about various famous artists.  They will explore seveal types of art and artistic movements by praticing basic research skills.  Students will have the opportunity to create a work of art inspired by the artist they are studying.  Students will also have the opportunity to build their vocabulary and work on their fine motor skills.  In this lesson specifically students will study Van Gogh and create a self portrait inspired by his.  

Jackson Pollock Inspired Painting

Over the course of several lessons students will learn about various famous artists.  They will explore seveal types of art and artistic movements by praticing basic research skills.  Students will have the opportunity to create a work of art inspired by the artist they are studying.  Students will also have the opportunity to build their vocabulary and work on their fine motor skills.    In this lesson specifically students will be learning bout impressionism, modern art and Jackson Pollock.  Like Pollock they will explore unconventional methods of painting and creating artwork

Culture Show and Tell

Students will highlight an aspect of their culture and present it to their peers using an online video platform. They can highlight something personal (as in something unique to their family that is currently practiced), ancestral (passed down generation to generation), or cultural (something celebrated by people of their ethnicity, religions, race, etc.).  Through this, they will celebrate what is unique to their own culture as well as celebrate and learn about the cultures of their peers.

Social-Emotional Learning Board Game

Let's use games to get our students thinking and expressing themselves creatively! We will explore how to create, share, and play a board game to promote social-emotional learning. We will take a closer look at how to create their board game using Google Drawings and Google Docs and discuss methods for engaging our students across subject areas.

Color Coding with Sphero

In this activity, students will use colored paper to help program Sphero. Students will use the Sphero Edu app to program code blocks to specific colors. This will lead to a discussion on programming and how to completely change the path of the RVR!

Act it Out!

Students will act out a story by recording a video of themselves on Flipgrid. Through this activity, they will practice communication and storytelling skills while expressing themselves creatively. The teacher will provide students with creative prompts and storytelling examples. Students can collaborate with one another on Flipgrid to share their performances.

Color My World (Color Mixing, Tints and Shade)

During this activity students will use the manupulatives created in SMART Notebook to review the color wheel and experiement with tints and shades.  There will also be an oppertunity to review the colors of the rainbow with a quick Class Lab game.
