With this new knowledge, you will be able to evaluate your own lessons and ensure that you are creating valuable learning tasks and activities for your students.

Having Students Show Work with Screencastify

Every math teacher knows the struggle to get students to show their work, and remote and hybrid learning have only made this task more difficult. Screencastify can be a solution for teachers to visually assess students' thinking while completing a math problem. In this session, we'll demonstrate how to use Screencastify to show student work.

Using Newsela to Teach Current Events

Do you want to incorporate more current events in your classroom but struggle to find grade-appropriate texts? This is a problem for many teachers, but Newsela serves as a solution. Join us as we demonstrate how to find grade-appropriate current events that you can share with your students.

Using Jamboard in the Elementary Science Classroom

Science is all about collaboration and engagement, but if your students are not sitting at the same lab table, this can be a challenge.  In this course you will learn how you can use Jamboard to deliver engaging lessons to your elementary science students.

Using Technology to Support 3D Teaching and Learning

During this session, we will explore how technology can help support 1D to 3D learning, even in a hybrid environment. We'll take some time to review what exactly 3D learning is and how it's reflected in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). From there, we'll dive into various types of technology and how they can be used to support this type of learning, both in and out of the classroom.

Getting Started with Newsela

Are you looking for some grade-appropriate texts for your students? Newsela has you covered. Join us as we go over this great resource, which not only has a full library of educational texts, but also provides teachers the ability to assign, monitor, and assess content given to students.

Tools to Support Literacy in Science

Looking for ways to support disciplinary literacy in your science classroom? Want to help strengthen your students' scientific reading and writing skills? Join us as we share tools and strategies that can help students understand and explain phenomena, analyze data and graphic displays of information, and communicate their findings and understandings with others. Watch your students think, read, evaluate, and communicate like scientists!

Engaging in Citizen Science

There is so much to monitor in our natural world — too much for scientists to handle alone! To maximize efforts, scientists often recruit citizen scientists to help. A citizen scientist is a member of the general public or an amateur scientist. While issues with data validity and collection standardization exist with this method, without it much of the natural world would go unobserved. Join us to learn about citizen science, how you can use it in your classroom to provide authenticity to a project, and learn some tips for keeping your collections valid!

Strategies for Long-Term Science Investigations

In this session, we'll introduce you to strategies to make your long-term science investigations run smoothly! Explore a variety of topics, the different steps and sections of a science investigation, and then view samples to guide your students to success. With help from resources like Urban Advantage, you'll have everything you need to have your students hit the ground running!
