About:
Lindsey Merrow has over 10 years of experience in education including working as an Instructional Technology Specialist for Teq from 2011-2014 delivering Professional Development courses, writing courses, and working with teachers on a variety of technologies in their classrooms. . Lindsey's first experience in education was as a special education teacher. Lindsey's most recent experience was as a districtwide instructional coach focusing on effective high impact teaching strategies through a data-driven, student-centered coaching model. Lindsey is certified in Restorative Practices, student- centered coaching and elementary education grades 1-6. Lindsey holds a Bachelors from St. Joseph's College in Child Study. Lindsey is excited to be a part of the curriculum team and help bridge a connection between technology use in the classroom with strategies to help all students find success!

Celebrating Read Across America Month in the Secondary Classroom

Are you looking for ways to connect with the spirit of Read Across America for your secondary students? In this session, we will discuss a variety of ways you can explore the deeper meaning behind some of the texts of Theodor Seuss Geisel, otherwise known as Dr. Seuss, whose birthday inspired Read Across America. We will look at pieces of writing from Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein to compare and contrast social issues; use Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels and Dr. Seuss's The Butter Battle Book to discuss satire; discuss political cartoons during World War II; and more!
